The Arrival of Winter Solstice

So it is finally the arrival of Winter Solstice or what the Chinese called dong zhi..It indicates the arrival of of a new year and the start of the Winter..that's why it is called the Winter Solstice..For the Chinese especially the Cantonese, it is an important event or festival.. In that day..The Chinese will make tang yuen which is called the dumplings made of glutinous rice flour that serve in soup..In short..It is called the glutinous rice balls..

I had not dream that I will be able to have glutinous rice ball in Ktt..Never dream of it before..I thought i will miss it since it falls on Sunday which i had to stay in Ktt..But after the suggestion of the staircase-mate..hehe..Well..that means those who live in the same block..We decide to made the glutinous rice ball 2 days before the festival.. And we had succeed in making two type of glutinous rice ball..One is the plain one and another one with pandan juice which is the green one..

So let's end the talking and start viewing the picture as promise..No more words..

The ingredient of the glutinous rice ball with the pandan juice..

Due to the lack of apparatus..We have to be creative in order to obtain the pandan juice..

The cooking process of the glutinous rice ball..

The cooked glutinous rice ball..

The filtration of water from the cooked glutinous rice ball..

A friend of mine ( staircase-mate) and my housemate SN..

My roommate, Emma and housemate SN..

The process of making glutinous rice ball..

The uncooked glutinous rice ball..

The eagerness of waiting for the cooked glutinous rice ball with the soup..

The removal of the pandan leaves that used to cook the soup..
The entry of glutinous rice ball into the soup..
Finally...It's done..

Serve while it is hot..
The adding of sugar into the tasteless soup...
Although there's 9 of us that participate in the making process...There's so much of it that we have to give it away to other people that had helped us and to our friends that remain in Ktt for the weekend..
So that's 16 people who had consume the glutinous rice ball make by us..
Quite happy with it...Since it is the first time I made it and also due to the first time making it while i am away from home..
Got to make another type of glutinous rice ball tomorrow with my family...It should be with the red bean this time if i am not mistaken...
